Relationship between Personality and self esteem.
Self esteem, a psychological construct or dynamic is a completely subjective self assessment about oneself that differs along with the different stages of personality development. Although the personality, a wide range of mental activities, exhibits itself in various actions termed as cognitive skills, motives, attributes, learning capacities, coping strategies etc. is unique from individual to individual .Thus, personality also includes physical outlook that reflects the internal mental processes of an individual in detail. Whilst, personality begins to develop right from the time of birth and passes through different developmental stages throughout the human life span. As development is multifaceted phenomenon influenced greatly by each of its component, similarly different stages in personality development also related with each other shadowing the impact of the previous one. In addition to this, self esteem as mentioned above is closely associated with ones personality and does not remain the same in each one of the personality stage. On the other hand, self esteem helps to develop the personality as well, so in short one cay say that they are interdependent models.
Striving for self esteem is a important psychological need as people with high self esteem has capacity to confront and fight with life stresses positively while those with low self esteem display signs of depression, anxiety and unable to meet with life challenges adequately.
